CareerSource Okaloosa Walton and Hiring Our Heroes thank participants who attended last week’s Networking Reception for Military Spouses.
We held classes, provided a professional photographer for LinkedIn headshots, and provided networking opportunities with educators, employers, and military resources. Black Rifle Coffee and Sam’s Club provided refreshments. Thanks to the 26 businesses that made this event a success! Our local community knows how vital our spouses are; we were fortunate to have State Representative Patt Maney, Commissioner Mel Ponder, and One Okaloosa Executive Director Nathan Sparks attend and show their support.
From Representative Maney: “Because of the unique challenges of being a military spouse, they develop unique attributes of resiliency, flexibility, strength, positive attitudes, and sacrifice. My wife, Caroline, said that every time I deployed, something broke at home or with the car or happened with a child that she had to handle alone.
From County Commissioner Mel Ponder: “The Military has helped, over the years, to shape Okaloosa County. Businesses, programs, and projects in our community are better because of the hard work and innovations of military spouses working shoulder-to-shoulder with the civilian workforce. We are honored to recognize them and share resources for continued success.”
Nathan Sparks added, “Military spouses are resilient, adaptable, and accustomed to embracing change. These same traits are extremely valuable to employers in today’s ever-changing world.”
