Workforce Innovation & Opportuniy Act (WIOA) Scholarships
This program is designed to provide education and training opportunities in high demand occupations in order to increase employment, earnings and job retention for Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) program participants. Available services are based on a determination of needs and include tuition and book assistance (up to $6,000), uniforms, supplies, and vocational guidance. The Goal of Florida's WIOA is to build a skilled workforce.
Who Can Apply for WIOA Scholarship?
Individuals who are:
- 18 years of age or older
- U.S. citizens and/or authorized to work in the U.S.
- Males born after December 31, 1959, must be registered for Selective Service
- Okaloosa or Walton county residents
Individuals must also fall into one of the following categories:
Dislocated Worker:Individuals who have been recently laid off or received notification of upcoming termination/layoff and eligible for or exhausted unemployment compensation.
- Recipients of Reemployment Assistance
- Individuals who exhausted their Reemployment Assistance and have not worked since
- Transitioning Service Members
- Applicable Military Spouses
- Displaced Homemakers

Adult:Individuals who are unemployed and do not meet the Dislocated Worker category; or individuals who are employed and earning less than $16.71 an hour.
How do I apply for assistance through WIOA?
Step 2: After you have logged into CareerSource Okaloosa Walton Website, the website will take you to the main page and under "The Dashboard." Select, "WIOA Orientation" and follow the necessary steps.
Step 3: If interested, complete the, "WIOA Interest Eligibility Questionnaire Form" AND the, "Grievance, Complaint... Form."
Step 4: If you have any questions or need to schedule a TABE Appointment, call a Career Advisor at 850- 833-7587. This is mandated if you have not taken any college courses in the last 6 months (must provide official or unofficial transcripts).
Step 5: Once all the Steps above are complete and you are still interested in applying for WIOA, please complete the WIOA Application online in full.
Step 6: Submit your full and completed WIOA Application through the CareerSource Okaloosa Walton Website.
Step 7: Upload all of your required documents through the CareerSource Mobile Uploads on this website. There is a requirements page in the WIOA Application that specifically identifies what is needed, such as Assessments, Social Security Card, Driver's License, etc. Email/Call Career Advisor if you missed this step in the WIOA Application for an additional requirements form.
Step 8: After your WIOA Orientation and Application have been completed, a WIOA Career Advisor will review your information and determine if you are eligible and suitable for the WIOA Program. A scheduled one on one appointment will then be scheduled to discuss the next steps.
